Jeffrey P. Mans

Jeffrey P. Mans is admitted to practice law in both the state and federal courts in New York and Massachusetts, and has extensive litigation and state and local government experience. From 2007 to 2011, he served in the New York State Executive Chamber as Assistant Secretary for Labor Relations and then Deputy Secretary for Labor and Financial Regulation, where he was responsible for the operations and policies of the state’s labor and financial regulation agencies, including Labor, Human Rights, Civil Service, Employee Relations, Workers’ Compensation, Banking and Insurance.

Mr. Mans served as Assistant Attorney General in the Litigation Bureau of the New York State Attorney General’s Office from 1996 to 2007, concentrating in labor and employment law. In that position he successfully engaged in all phases of litigation and trial practice in state and federal court, and served on the Attorney General’s Labor-Management and Equal Employment Opportunity Committees. His litigation experience includes bench and jury trials on issues involving discrimination, retaliation, civil rights, constitutional law, civil service law, arbitration, workplace health and safety, and the Taylor Law. Several of his cases are reported in the state and federal court reporters.

From 1988 to 1996, Mr. Mans served as Associate Attorney in the Town Attorney’s Office for the Town of Colonie, providing legal counsel to one of the ten largest towns in New York State. In this capacity, he was engaged in trial and appellate practice, including the commencement and prosecution of local and state code enforcement actions. He has frequently lectured statewide before various chapters of the New York State Building Officials Conference and the New York State Bar Association on the administration and enforcement of municipal land use controls, including civil and criminal prosecution of code enforcement actions. Mr. Mans began his professional career in public service as Assistant Counsel to New York State Senator Donald M. Halperin from 1985 to 1988.

Mr. Mans earned his B.A. in Political Science and Business Economics from the State University of New York College at Oneonta, and received his J.D. from Albany Law School of Union University. He is a member of the Albany County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.
